SHOW NEWS

2011

January 28-29, 2012

We had a grand time at the CFA show in Birmingham. Dancer not only got his last few points but also made an AB final, and is now a CFA Grand Premier as well as a TICA Supreme. Whit got 6 points and Dragon missed becoming a Grand Champion by only 1 point. That was a bit disappointing, naturally. I so wanted to grand these brothers at the same show! :) BFF gave out special New Grand rosettes and we got to take one home for Dancer, which is such a nice thing to have to commemorate this very special Grand!

January 22-21, 2012

Both Dancer and Dragon made 2 finals. Fun dinner with a big crowd and new people made for a very enjoyable evening. Got to see folk I hadn't seen in a while. And we escaped the tornadoes on the way home, which made it a very good weekend indeed! :)

December 30-31, 2011

I took Dancer, Dragon and baby Whit to the Nashville show. Dragon got 3 purples and 9 points and is getting very close to his GC title. The spoiler for him was actually baby Whit who not only got 5 of 8 purple ribbons, but also made a LH final for a total of 43 points. Not shabby for a 9 months old who only was along as a point (so much for my plans, grin).

November 25-26, 2011

Dancer ran into very serious Maine Coon competition (the best MC alter in TICA) in Arkansas but got 2 finals, both of which were BEST Alters! :) He's now a Supreme Grand Champion Alter! Our very first Supreme, as all of our Quads had gotten Bests, but never after their Quad title. I'm so excited! Dragon got 3 finals as well. Great dinner with lots of fun folks. Made new friends and hung out with old friends I don't get to see often. All in all a fabulous weekend, well worth the 11 hour drive.

November 12-13, 2011

Dancer made 5 finals, one of which was a BEST Alter, and is now a Quadruple Grand Champion Alter. I'm so proud! He needs only a few more points to become a Supreme. Dragon had a great show as well and brought home 8 finals, not only becoming a Grand Champion, but making it all the way to Quadruple Grand Champion in 1 show weekend. Great time with friends we don't see very often. And one of them gave a special toy to Dancer, which he loves to death and gets very excited about at every show. :)

November 4-5, 2011

Dancer made 1 final worth 9 points and now only need 3 more to become a Grand Premier. Whit got several honorable mentions at his last kitten show.

October 28-30, 2011

Dancer made 5 finals and is now a Triple Grand Champion Alter. The competition in Championship and Kittens was very fierce. Mimo got 1 3rd BoB. Dragon made one final, but unfortunately it doesn't count towards his grand because there were not enough cats competing. That was naturally a tad disappointing - so close. Next show! Keep your paws crossed for Dragon. :)

October 15-16, 2011

Dragon not only made 2nd Best AB Champion but also got a 6th best AB Cat, he's getting very close to his GC title. Great visit with Keith and Julie, owners of Carley aka IttyBitty, who came down to see Carley's brothers (and me) for the day. Also super nice to see so many exhibitor friends I hadn't seen in quite a while. Had a blast with my travelling companion, Judy. Good times! And boy, those Persian folks do know how to party (we had dinner with a bunch of them). :)

October 8-9, 2011

Dancer made 2 finals and now needs only 12 more points to become a Grand Premier, Dragon also got 2 finals and now needs only 80 to become a Grand Champion and Whit made 1 final, too! Great show, lots of lovely spectators to chat with, good food and friends. :)

September 17-18, 2011

What a show! :) We brought home 17 rosettes between the 5 cats/kittens I took along. Dragon made 5 finals and missed granding by just 1 final, Dancer got 3 and is now a Grand Champion Alter, Mimo made 5, Whit 3 and Fanny got 1. Made the bathing and running around non-stop so worthwhile! I always enjoy that show because of the relaxed atmosphere and the fun I have with the other exhibitors. Great dinner with Susan and Bonnie.

September 4-5, 2011

Dancer got a purple but no final, but, hey, points is points and we are getting ever closer to that Grand Premier title. Hollie moved in with his new family. A good weekend, even though I miss little Hollie. He's such a cuddle bug, but he now has 2 kids, 2 adults, a Birman, a Labrador and 2 hamsters to play with. I fear a bit for the hamsters. :)

August 6, 2011

Whit made an AB final and Fanny got a 2nd BoB and a BoB in a big class with many older Maine Coon kittens competing. I was thrilled to bits. :)

July 30-31, 2011

A great TICA debut for the babies. Fanny got 3 BoBs against strong competition and 3 finals, Mimo made a final as 2nd BoB and Whit got 1 BoB and a BEST Kitten. Great awards dinner and presentation. Fun times!

July 8-9, 2011

We had a fabulous time at the babies' first CFA show at just 4 months old. Fanny got a 2nd BoB, Whit made a SP final as 3rd BoB and also got 2 2nd BoBs. Lots of fun talking to the many spectators and I had a great time with my fellow traveller, Wendy, who shared the driving and the adventures in kitten bathroom emergencies. :)

July 2-3, 2011

Fun show with strong competition. Dancer snagged himself a few grand points by getting a purple and a SP top 10 final.

June 11-12, 2011

Lots of fun with friends and spectators, but no love for Dancer at the Southern Regional Awards show.

May 21, 2011

Dancer made 2 finals and got 32 points towards his Grand Premier title in a competitive group of Maine Coon PRs in Elizabethtown. I was thrilled!

May 1, 2011

Dancer got his winner's ribbons and is now ready to compete for grand points.

April 9-10, 2011

Fabulous time in Memphis. Not only did Dragon make a final, but Harvey got his last few points and is now a Grand Premier! Well done, Harvey! We are so excited! He's the first Grand out of this litter. :)

March 26, 2011

Hectic day in Knoxville with a final for Harvey. He got so close to granding, but not quite. On to Memphis! :)

March 5, 2011 and March 12-13, 2011

Good times were had, but the competition didn't let either Harvey nor Dragon get a foot in the door. :) We'll try again!

Unfortunately, I seem to have picked up a bug in Cumming, or maybe it's just allergies, but I decided to stay home and adore kittens instead of going to Birmingham this coming weekend.

February 12-13, 2011

Both Harvey and Dragon made a final in Memphis. We had hoped to get the last 26 points on Harvey, but his grandma (Milo's mom) is now a PR as well and she stole his thunder a bit naturally, being a very pretty cat and more mature at 4 years old. He still brought home a purple and a final and now needs only 17 points to become a Grand Premier.

Dragon got 1 final and is now 1/3 along on his way to Grand Champion. We are taking a few weeks off (for kitten watch), but will be back in the show halls in March.

January 29-30, 2011

Our second outing in CFA at the Birmingham show was quite successful too, with Harvey, formerly known as Tai :), getting 4 purple ribbons and 3 finals and now needing only 26 more points to become a Grand Premier and Dragon getting 1 purple and 21 points towards his title.

Karen and Jim came to see their baby on Saturday and were as excited as I was at how well Harvey did. We hope this trend continues.

January 15-16, 2011

We had a good start into 2011 with both Dragon and Tai achieving their Champion and Premier titles respectively and both also getting their first grand points at the 6x6 in Louisiana at the tender age of 8 months old.

I look forward to also adding Dancer (Tiny) to the mix come May. And Kit's owners have indicated an interest in showing so there might be quite a few Firemountain cats in the show halls this year. :)

Please check the new show calendar to see whether we will be close to you soon.

2010

The 2009/2010 show season ended in April with a bang for Firemountain cattery, as both Tip and Milo became Regional Winners in the TICA Southeast region and now get to add RW in front of their names.

In July we started showing Chi again and he became a Quadruple Grand Champion Alter in October and added QGCA to his name.

And in September I started hauling all 5 of Dawn and Milo's kittens to both TICA and CFA shows. Dragon, Tiny and IttyBitty all made finals in TICA and Tiny in CFA as well, where he beat a much older Maine Coon kitten and was 2nd best kitten in Marge Collier's AB ring at the Huntsville show at not quite 5 months old. I was so proud of my little man!

2009

November 2009 was a grand month for us in both TICA and CFA.

At the TICA show in Lafayette, LA, Milo, who had granded at his first TICA show in June at just 8 months old, became a Triple Grand Champion. Tip made 10 out of 12 finals to get his title as Double Grand Champion Alter and was Best in Show Alter at his very first TICA show.

The very next weekend, at the CFA show in Alexandria, LA, Milo became a Grand Champion, Tip became a Grand Premier and Chi got 42 points towards his Grand Premier title. As you can imagine we floated home on cloud 9! Both weekends were fabulous regardless of the long drives home!

In December, at the TICA show in Greensboro, NC, Milo became a Quadruple Grand Champion and Tip became a Quadruple Grand Champion Alter at just his 2nd TICA show and made 9 out of 12 finals.

And finally, last but not least, at the CFA show in January in Jacksonville, FL, Chi became a Grand Premier as well.

Needless to say, we are very proud of our two homebred Grand Premiers, Tip and Chi, and of Milo, who achieved titles in both associations, and we consider 2009 a fabulous show year for our cattery.

Tip had fun at his kitten shows both in TICA, where he made several finals, and CFA where he ended his kitten career with a Best Kitten at the SILF show in Marion, IL, in July.

We are beyond happy to announce our first Firemountain Grand. Firemountain Aurora did the honors at the Dalton show in fine style in Tracy Petty's ring. She's her mother Tobiyana's second Grand and her father Buddy's first.

We are thrilled to announce that Rowdy granded at the Flamingo Cat Fanciers show in Kissimmee, FL, on September 9, 2006. He is the first Grand for his mother, CH Tymack Tobiyana of Firemountain, and the 5th for his father, GC Islandcat's Marmalade Sky of Tymack.

Honeybear had a very good September, including a Best in Show, in Baton Rouge, LA, at the Greater Baton Rouge Cat Club on September 23/24, 2006, and a fabulous start into October with another Best in Show in Sedalia, MO, at the Pfanciers United For Fun show on Sept. 30/Oct. 1, 2006. Thanks to all our friends who cheer him on and to the judges who appreciate him.

He ended the show season as CFA's 37th highest scoring cat in Premiership and 10th highest scoring cat in Premiership in the Southern region. He also became a DGCA in TICA and was Best Somali Alter in the Southeast region.

Little Jack had lots of fun at the shows and at the Lone Star Cat Club show in Mesquite, TX, he got a Best Kitten in a class of 13 Maine Coon kittens. A great end to his kitten career.

Unfortunately, Little Jack was dropped by a judge at one of his first adult shows and became very frightened, so we retired him from the show ring with 59 grand points towards his GC title.
